The German Foreign Ministry summoned Iran's chargé d'affaires and recalled its ambassador from Tehran for consultations in response to the execution of German citizen Jamshid Sharmahd.
Report informs via Associated Press that in a statement, the German Foreign Ministry expressed their resolute objection to Iran's decision to execute Sharmahd. The Iranian chargé d'affaires in Berlin was called to the ministry, where officials conveyed Germany's firm stance on the matter.
Germany's ambassador to Iran, Markus Potzel, also voiced Berlin's sharp position at the Iranian Foreign Ministry. Following this, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock decided to recall Potzel for consultations.
Jamshid Sharmahd, who held both Iranian and German citizenship, was executed on Saturday. An Iranian court had found him guilty of terrorist activities, cooperating with the CIA, FBI, and Mossad, as well as involvement with an Iranian monarchist organization.
