German law enforcement authorities have apprehended three men - citizens of Russia, Ukraine, and Armenia - on suspicion of working for a foreign intelligence service.

According to Report, which cites the German Public Prosecutor's Office, the three detained individuals were tasked by a foreign intelligence agency to gather information about a "person from Ukraine" residing in Germany.

"To accomplish this, they conducted surveillance on June 19 at a café in Frankfurt am Main, where their target was supposed to be located," the authorities revealed in an official statement.

The specific foreign intelligence service involved has not been disclosed.

On June 20, a judge issued and executed arrest warrants for the three suspects, ensuring their detention pending further investigation.
