Germany aims to reach 2% of GDP target for defense in 2024

Germany remains committed to the goal of spending 2% of GDP on defense, Deputy Representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers Wolfgang Buechner said, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Germany will achieve this goal as early as 2024,” he said, adding that this is spelled out in Germany’s national security strategy.

Earlier, the Handelsblatt newspaper wrote that Germany spent only 1 billion of 100 billion euros that were allocated for the modernization of the army a year and a half ago.
