In anticipation of the NATO summit, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius requested an additional 4 billion euros for 2024 to provide military assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Report informs referring to Der Spiegel.
The funds received are planned to be used to deliver ammunition, spare parts and, possibly, Leopard 1A tanks to Ukraine.
Pistorius has reportedly asked for additional funds from Finance Minister Christian Lindner as most of 7 billion euros allocated to support Ukraine in the current federal budget has been spent or tied up in contracts. There are just under 200,000 euros left for new arms supplies for the second half of 2024.
