German climate activists committed 580 crimes since early 2022

Radical environmental activists from the Letzte Generation movement have committed 580 illegal acts since the beginning of 2022, and 740 activists have been prosecuted, German Interior Minister Nancy Feser said in an interview with Bild am Sonntag newspaper, Report informs.

"Activists are committing crimes. The German Federal Criminal Police Office has issued a nationwide report on the situation for the first time," Feser said. "Since the beginning of 2022, 580 crimes have been linked to Letzte Generation, 740 people have been taken into police custody," she stressed. At the same time, the minister clarified that the crimes were mainly about "coercion and damage to property."

At the same time, Feser noted that "for climate protection, the actions of eco-activists are completely useless." "In many places, we see how the police intervene in the case, activists are brought to trial. That's right. But there are differences between criminals and extremists," the German Interior Minister summed up.

Letzte Generation is calling for a stronger fight against climate change, speed limits on motorways and lower public transport fares. Representatives of the movement have repeatedly stressed that they will continue their actions until the German authorities find an optimal solution.
