German Chancellor Angela Merkel will take part in a virtual meeting of the G7 leaders on Feb. 19, which will be chaired by the UK, German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert said at a briefing, Report informs, referring to TASS.
"The meeting will mostly focus on issues of multilateral cooperation based on the shared values of the G7, combating the pandemic and recovering the economy," he said.
Seibert stressed that during the talks, Merkel intends, among other things, to raise the question of how the G7 can take on more responsibility in overcoming global challenges during the pandemic.
Moreover, the Chancellor plans to discuss issues of trade, the situation in Africa, issues related to environmental protection, vaccination, as well as the strengthening of international organizations such as the World Trade Organization or the World Health Organization with other leaders.
The face-to-face meeting of the G7 is scheduled for June 11-13. It is planned to take place at Carbis Bay in Cornwall in the southwest of England.
