French trade unions call for nationwide strike amid growing discontent

France's largest unions have announced plans for a nationwide strike in early December.
Report informs via Le Figaro that the call for action comes in response to the government's controversial plans to cut funding for the public sector in 2025 and implement measures such as reducing sick leave compensation.
The unions have urged public sector employees to stay away from work on December 5.
This latest development adds to the growing unrest in France, with representatives from the agricultural sector planning demonstrations on November 18 and employees of the national railway company SNCF set to strike on November 21.
