French poltician says awkward situation with Erdogan was humiliation for Macron

The leader of the French party "The Patriots" Florian Philippot stated that French President Emmanuel Macron was humiliated during a conversation with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Tirana, Albania, Report informs.

Philippot wrote about this on X.

"Macron wanted to act smart with Erdogan, he ended up humiliated!" he pointed out.

This episode was caught on camera during the European Political Community meeting in Tirana. Macron approached Erdogan, who was sitting at a table, and placed his hand on top of the Turkish leader's hand. A conversation began, the content of which is not available in the recording. Erdogan quickly removed his hand but held onto two of Macron's fingers. The French president managed to pull one finger from the grip, however, the Turkish leader continued to hold Macron's other finger for at least ten more seconds, while smiling and not getting up from his seat. Eventually, the leaders finished a brief exchange of remarks through an interpreter, after which Erdogan patted Macron's hand, and Macron walked away.
