French farmers organized a protest near the European Parliament in Strasbourg using tractors to demonstrate against the free trade agreement with Mercosur bloc countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay), Report informs via BFMTV.
"At least 25 tractors arrived in the area near the European Parliament in Strasbourg to protest against the free trade agreement with Mercosur," the channel reported.
The farmers couldn't drive directly to the EP as armed gendarmes and law enforcement vans blocked their way. One of the protesting farmers and a member of the "Rural Coordination" union told the channel that farmers are negotiating to be allowed to move closer, as they were previously promised.
The tractor drivers are also periodically honking their horns in protest against the trade agreement with Mercosur, according to the report.
