The French gendarmerie has uncovered an international criminal network that sells 3D-printed weapons, Report informs referring to the Monde newspaper.
“Three hundred gendarmes were deployed to detain 14 people and seize eight 3D printers, seven weapons made exclusively using 3D printing, and twenty-four conventional weapons,” reads the report.
Marseille prosecutor Nicolas Besson, in turn, noted that this was the “first in France” network of this kind.
Investigators penetrated groups of scammers on the Telegram channel, which allowed them to expose the network. The 3D-printed weapon is of very good quality, so it is almost impossible to distinguish it from the original.
The detainees were engaged in the manufacture of weapons, while others acted as intermediaries with buyers, who were also arrested.
