At least nine people have died and two more are missing as a result of floods caused by Tropical Storm Vutip in central Vietnam.
Report informs via the news portal VnExpress that more than 3,500 homes have been flooded in the central region, along with about 88,000 hectares of rice and other crops.
Tropical Storm Vutip, the first storm of the year in the South China Sea, brought unusually early summer rains, causing severe flooding. The floods have seriously disrupted transportation in the central part of the country and caused significant economic damage to the region's agriculture.
Earlier, Vietnam’s Department of Dike Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control reported that more than 2,400 residents had been evacuated from the affected areas.
