Farmers with dozens of tractors partially block port in Germany’s Bremerhaven

Farmers on several dozen tractors have blocked one of the entrances to a major German port, which is located in the city of Bremerhaven, Report informs referring to Die Welt.

“On Monday, farmers with approximately 30 tractors blocked the access road to the port in Bremerhaven,” police said, noting that the farmers’ actions were a “spontaneous demonstration” that was not coordinated with law enforcement. It is unknown how long the promotion will last.

In December, the German government announced budget-saving measures. It was supposed to cancel subsidies for diesel fuel, as well as preferential taxation of vehicles used in forestry and agriculture. After the announcement of these plans, German farmers began protests.
