European Commission President: Impossible to imagine EU without Ukraine

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that she could not imagine the European Union without Ukraine, Report informs via TASS.

Ursula von der Leyen made the remarks today at a press conference in Madrid with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, dedicated to the beginning of Spain's presidency of the EU Council.

“Can we imagine the EU without Ukraine or without the countries of the Balkans, which will remain under the influence of Russia or China? Impossible! Therefore, we must discuss what the new EU will look like. What will the decision-making mechanism look like, what will the distribution of common budget funds look like, what common programs will we implement and what strengths will the new EU have,” von der Leyen said when asked how she sees the future of the EU.
