EU simplifies rules for transport of humanitarian goods for Ukraine

A number of European states have simplified the passage of vehicles delivering humanitarian cargoes to Ukraine as much as possible, the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure reports, Report informs, citing UNIAN.

"Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Germany and Hungary have introduced permit-free travel for humanitarian cargo carriers to Ukraine," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

The simplification of travel stands for, first of all, the release of carriers from the need to issue permits for international freight traffic. This makes the delivery of humanitarian cargo more efficient.

In particular, crossing the borders with Lithuania, Latvia, and Slovakia with humanitarian cargoes, there is no need to submit information about the carriers and vehicles.

On the territory of Germany, for the transportation of medicines and humanitarian aid, Ukrainian carriers need to provide only the number of vehicles.

Hungary has abolished tolls for the use of roads and registration of events in the BIREG electronic system for humanitarian carriers. At the same time, a clearly visible announcement with the inscription "Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine" and a red cross drawing must be placed on the windshield of the vehicles. Also, the carrier must have a completed Declaration in Ukrainian and English on the list of goods recognized as humanitarian aid, and a cover letter from the sender with information about the recipient.

"It is important that information about the vehicle that will move through the territory of Hungary must be provided to the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure to inform the Hungarian side," the ministry said.

Poland has abolished tolls for the use of all roads. To cross the border, humanitarian aid carriers must fill out the form in advance.

"We thank our European partners for their support. The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure continues to work with foreign partners in order to speed up and simplify the process of transporting humanitarian cargo in an extremely difficult period for Ukraine," the ministry added.
