EU leaders set to back von der Leyen for second term as European Commission chief

At an informal meeting in Brussels on Monday evening, European Union leaders are expected to voice their support for extending the mandate of European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen for a second term.
Report informs via the Financial Times that this informal gathering is set to pave the way for a formal summit on June 27-28, where a final agreement on the new EC chief is expected to be reached.
Sources also indicate that the informal meeting in Brussels will discuss potential candidates for the positions of European Council President and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
