The European Union increased ammunition production by 30% in 2023 and is close to producing 1 million shells per year, but this does not guarantee the supply of such a volume to Ukraine, the European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton stated upon his arrival at the meeting of EU defense ministers, Report informs via TASS.
“Since February 2023, we have significantly increased the production of ammunition - by 30%, so we will achieve our goal of producing 1 million shells per year,” he said.
He said the European Commission had ensured that military production capabilities were increased.
“Now the task of the member countries is to allocate them to Ukraine,” Breton noted.
