EU extends restrictive measures against ISIS, al-Qaeda

The EU Council has decided to extend EU sanctions against ISIS and al-Qaeda for a year, reads the council’s message, Report informs referring to Interfax.

The current restrictive measures are being extended against ISIS and al-Qaeda, individuals and legal entities, groups, enterprises and organizations associated with them for another year - until October 31, 2024.

This sanctions regime currently applies to 14 people and five groups. The measures include an asset freeze and a travel ban to the EU. In addition, EU individuals and legal entities are prohibited from providing financial assets or economic resources to entities included in the sanctions list.

Brussels clarifies that these restrictive measures complement the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council against ISIS and al-Qaeda.
