Vice-President of the European Commission (EC) Margaritis Schinas believes that 70 percent of the EU population can be vaccinated against coronavirus by mid-July this year, Report informs, referring to TASS.
"I hope that the goal [to vaccinate 70% of the EU population] won’t be the end of the summer, but [the goal will be achieved] during the summer," Schinas said. He noted that the Americans are planning to declare [the achievement of] immunity on July 4, by the US Independence Day. "We can do it on July 14, on a very European and outstanding date - Bastille Day," Schinas said.
The EU has so far approved four vaccines: the development of the BioNTech - Pfizer consortium, a drug from the American company Moderna, a vaccine from the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and a drug from Janssen.
