The Ebeko volcano, located on the North Kuril Island of Paramushir, has emitted an ash column to a height of 2.5 km above sea level, according to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sakhalin Region, Report informs referring to Interfax.

According to its data, the ash plume stretched for a distance of more than 5 km in the northeast direction from the volcano. There are no international air routes near the volcano. There are no registered tourist groups in the area of ​​the volcano, the press service notes.

The Ebeko volcano (height 1,156 m) is located in the northern part of the Vernadsky Ridge, 7 km from Severo-Kurilsk. It is a complex stratovolcano with several summit craters. Before that, the volcano erupted in 2012, then a period of calm set in, which lasted until October 2016.

Ebeko has been assigned an aviation hazard color code of orange, meaning the ash could pose a threat to low-flying aircraft.
