Dutch authorities introduce new rules for export of equipment for chips production

The Dutch government has introduced new export regulations for the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, reads the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Report informs referring to TASS.

This means that in the Netherlands certain equipment will be subject to national licensing requirements, the document says. This procedure, among other things, provides that the last word on the issue of exporting equipment will remain with the government.

The new rules come into effect on September 1. They concern a number of specific technologies for the development and production of the most advanced semiconductors that can be used in the military sphere. The uncontrolled export of such products and technologies can pose a threat to national security, the government said.

The Dutch authorities stressed that the new rules do not apply to any particular country. One of the largest exporters of the most advanced semiconductor equipment from the Netherlands is China.
