CSTO begins multi-month exercises in Central Asia

Large-scale maneuvers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) members' troops titled "Border-2021" begins today, Report informs, citing Izvestia.
Troops of Russia and Central Asian countries have arrived at Tajik military training grounds to practice the defense of the border with Afghanistan. About 1,000 Russian servicemen will take part in the military exercises on the Afghanistan border. The training will take place in three stages.
The first is a joint operation of the armed forces of Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan to eliminate terrorist gangs. The second is training for the elimination of terrorists who have entered Tajikistan, and the third is training for the protection of the state border.
