"CIS intelligence agencies are closely monitoring actions of the Taliban, which have seized power in Afghanistan," Sergei Naryshkin, the director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service, has said, Report informs, citing TASS.
"Under the current scenario, we are predicting that the process will further develop. Therefore, we continue to closely monitor the activities of the new government and exchange information with our colleagues from the CIS countries," he elaborated.
Naryshkin stressed that the events in Afghanistan are a threat to neighboring countries in connection with both migration and drug trafficking: “In general, the situation is serious and the threat of terror coming from Afghanistan has increased. The special services and the military are taking precautionary measures to protect themselves from a number of threats."
