China suspends arms control consultations with United States

China has decided to suspend its arms control and non-proliferation consultations with the United States.

According to Report, which cites TASS, that during a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said, "For a considerable period, the United States has continued to sell arms to the Taiwan administration, despite China's strong opposition and repeated negotiations. As a result, China has decided to suspend the next round of arms control and non-proliferation consultations with the US."

Lin emphasized that the responsibility for this situation lies with the American side. However, he also highlighted China's readiness to maintain relevant contacts with Washington "based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation. The diplomat called on the United States to "respect China's core interests and create the necessary conditions for dialogue and consultations between the two sides."
