China launches antidumping probe into EU pork imports

Authorities in China have launched an antidumping investigation into pork imports from the European Union, according to a statement from China's Ministry of Commerce, Report informs via Interfax.

China is the largest market for European pork producers, although exports to the country have declined in recent years due to domestic overproduction and low prices. Last year, China imported pork worth $1.83 billion from the EU, primarily from Spain, Denmark, and the Netherlands.

The decision by China's Ministry of Commerce is likely a response to ongoing investigations by European regulators into several Chinese industries.

Just last week, the European Commission announced plans to impose additional tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports to the EU.
