Beijing hopes that China and the US will cooperate for the benefit of the whole world, rather than conflict with each other, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Report informs via TASS.
Xi noted that countries need to unite and cooperate, rather than divide and oppose each other, against the backdrop of an unstable and intertwined international situation.
As two major powers, China and the US must bear responsibility to history, their peoples, and the world, Xi Jinping said. According to him, China and the US should become stable sources of global peace and driving forces of common development.
He expressed hope that the US will meet China halfway and view China and its development positively and rationally, Xi Jinping said. He added that both countries should view each other's development as an opportunity, not a challenge.
The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
