China boosts oil and gas output in Jan.-July 2025

China’s energy sector recorded year-on-year growth of 1.3% in oil production and 6% in gas output during the January–July period of 2025, Report informs, citing the National Bureau of Statistics of the People's Republic of China.

During the reporting period, the country’s oil and gas companies produced 126.6 million tons of oil and 152.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

According to the data, in July 2025, average daily production reached 585,000 tons of oil and 700 million cubic meters of gas. Over the seven-month period, oil refining volumes rose by 2.6% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 424.68 million tons.

Meanwhile, in 2023, China increased its oil and gas imports by 11% and 9.9%, respectively. In 2024, those figures rose by 1.8% (to 212.82 million tons) for oil and 6.2% (to 246.4 billion cubic meters) for gas.
