Borrell: There is clear need for EU defense system

The need for the EU to create its own defense system became apparent after the situation with the withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said upon his arrival at an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Slovenia, Report informs referring to TASS.

He stressed that the historical events in Afghanistan prompted the development of a European security concept Strategic Compass, the final draft of which will be presented in October-November.
