US President Joe Biden said Friday that his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy “didn’t want to hear” American warnings ahead of Russian offensive, Report informs, citing foreign media.
“I know a lot of people thought I was exaggerating,” Biden said at a fundraising reception in Los Angeles, referring to his forewarning of the possibility of a Russian attack.
The US President's unexpected statement about the Ukrainian leader came amid official Kyiv's desperate calls on Western allies to speed up the delivery of heavy weapons to Ukraine. The Zelenskyy administration said that Russian troops outnumbered the Ukrainian Armed Forces in terms of heavy artillery pieces, and that Ukrainians in Donbas, who were holding back the Russian attack with all their might, were short of ammunition. The supply of many missile systems that could fundamentally change the situation on the fronts has been postponed for unknown reasons.
