US President Joe Biden on February 18 signed an initiative approved by Congress to temporarily finance the federal government until March 11, inclusive, Report informs citing TASS.
On September 30, the 2021 fiscal year ended in the US, but legislators have not yet agreed on a full-fledged budget for 2022. In this regard, they have to adopt temporary resolutions to extend government funding.
The previous such document is valid until February 18. If the new resolution had not been approved by this time, the US could face another suspension of the government’s work. The last time this happened was on December 22, 2018, as a result of which civil servants went on forced leave for a record-breaking 35 days.
