Authorities have identified 25-year-old Noah Green from Indiana as the suspect killed during a vehicle attack at the US Capitol that left a police officer dead and another in the hospital, Report informs referring to Forbes.
Green expressed support on Facebook for the Nation of Islam, the Black nationalist movement led by Louis Farrakhan, who has a history of anti-Semitic and anti-LGBTQ views, multiple outlets reported.
Green posted on Facebook about his struggles with “fear, hunger, loss of wealth, and diminution of fruit” amid the pandemic, adding that he was unemployed after leaving his job “partly due to afflictions, but ultimately, in search of a spiritual journey.”
US Capitol Police say Green rammed into authorities at a barricade outside the Capitol with his vehicle, jumped out of his car and lunged at officers with a knife. Green did not respond to verbal commands, authorities said, and was shot by an officer at the scene.
US Capitol Police identified William “Billy” Evans as the officer who was slain during the attack. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that flags outside the Capitol will fly at half-staff to honor Evans.
