Australia plans to evacuate its citizens from Israel

Australia's federal government has asked leading national carriers Qantas and Virgin Australia to operate evacuation flights for Australians wishing to leave Israel amid the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Report via TASS.

Australian Transport Minister Catherine King held negotiations with the management of Qantas and Virgin Australia airlines, and delivered “an urgent request from the government to work with the country’s Foreign Ministry on options for evacuation flights.”

The Australian Foreign Ministry reported that by October 11, only 122 Australians out of more than 12,000 registered at the Australian Embassy in Tel Aviv left Israel on their own.
