Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has called on the EU to approve the republic’s bid for membership while there is such an opportunity, Report informs referring to TASS.
“Türkiye’s EU membership opens up new opportunities for both the EU and our region. I encourage European leaders to take advantage of the new window of opportunity before it closes,” he said at a press conference in Ankara following talks with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel.
The head of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, in turn, announced Sofia’s support for Ankara’s entry into the EU.
“Türkiye is in the process of joining the EU. Bulgaria, being its member, supports Ankara’s European aspirations,” Gabriel said.
