Albania holds parliamentary elections

Albania is conducting parliamentary elections, with 53 parties and three electoral coalitions vying for 140 seats in parliament.

According to Report, the main contenders are Prime Minister Edi Rama's Socialist Party, which has governed since 2013, and the opposition Democratic Party led by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

Rama is considered the frontrunner in the race against his longtime rival.

Polling stations will remain open until 19:00 (GMT+2), with 3.7 million citizens eligible to vote across more than 5,200 polling stations. Additionally, around 250,000 Albanians living abroad can cast their votes via email or regular mail.

Meanwhile, a delegation from Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission is set to observe the elections on May 11.
