8 peacekeepers injured when armored vehicle exploded at UN mission in Mali

An armored vehicle of the UN mission in Mali hit a landmine, injuring 8 peacekeepers, the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) wrote on X, Report informs.
“An armored vehicle in our convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device on the way to Gao. Eight peacekeepers were injured and were evacuated to Gao,” reads the statement.
MINUSMA noted that this was the third attack on the convoy using an improvised explosive device since its departure on October 31.
On June 30, the UN Security Council, at the request of the Mali government, adopted a resolution to end the peacekeeping mission in this African country. The withdrawal of units must be completed by December 31, 2023.
