Russian Deputy FM: Madrid principles should remain on the table

"I believe that not only Russia but all those concerned about the interests of strengthening stability in this region should make appropriate statements and encourage the parties to establish peace and a cease-fire. Stabilization of the situation is in the interests of all."

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told in his interview to the First Deputy Director General of TASS Mikhail Gusman, Report says.

"We believe that everything developed by the international community, first of all, relating to Nagorno – Karabakh within the framework of the OSCE Minsk GROUP, the so-called Madrid principles, and others, should remain on the table. The current crisis should not have consequences in the form of regression from the progress achieved as a result of Titanic efforts, primarily by the Russian Federation, in bringing the prospects for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict closer."

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister noted settlement of the conflict would significantly improve the region's situation as a whole.
