On March 16, the Milli Majlis (Parliament) adopted a statement over the French Senate conference against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan expressing a clear disrespect for international law, Report informs.
The text of the draft statement was voiced by MP Sevil Mikayilova, a member of the commission established for the preparation of the statement.
The statement reads that the attempts of France, which did not take any steps to achieve peace during the occupation of Azerbaijan's territories, preferred to support Armenia's policy of aggression, stood by it after the conflict was resolved, and was the author of steps and initiatives that tempted Armenia to revanchism at both national and international levels, to regain its lost position in the region by harsh methods are failing:
“With its behavior, France is not only harming the interests of the South Caucasus region but also of Europe as a whole, concerning peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Reaffirming the principled position of the Azerbaijani parliament in the context of the latest provocative steps by the French side, we call on the French senate to abandon the wrong practice of distorting the events in the South Caucasus, refrain from actions against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, refrain from interfering in its internal affairs, and take steps that serve to create a long-term peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
