Milli Majlis: Simonyan's statement is an attempt to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs

The statements of the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, on social networks regarding the creation of a border checkpoint on the Lachin-Khankandi road are unacceptable, the press service of the Milli Majlis said, according to Report.

"This is yet another attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan and it does not contribute to peace and tranquility in the region," the press service notes.

"It should be emphasized that ensuring border security, including security of movement, is a necessary condition for national security, state sovereignty and rule of law. Preventing the systematic and large-scale use of the Lachin road for illegal purposes and ensuring border security is a legitimate right of the Azerbaijani government. The decision of the Azerbaijani government serves the purpose of preventing illegal activities and facilitating orderly entry into and exit from the country," it further says.
