Milli Majlis approves amendments to Criminal Code on 15 years of imprisonment for ecocide

The Milli Majlis (Parliament of Azerbaijan) approved in the first reading amendments to the Criminal Code on the introduction of criminal liability for ecocide in Azerbaijan.
According to Report, the amendments stipulate that intentional, large-scale, long-term, and serious damage to the ecosystem will be punishable by 10 to 15 years of imprisonment.
Earlier, President Ilham Aliyev, as a legislative initiative, submitted to the Milli Majlis a bill proposing to introduce criminal liability for ecocide.
