An Ethics Commission is established to give consent to being a donor to non-relatives in Azerbaijan.
Report informs that this is reflected in the newly drafted Bill on Donor and Transplantation of Human Organs.
According to Article 30 of the Law (Ethics Commission), Ethics Commission on Public Principles is established within the relevant executive authority to investigate ethical and legal issues related to organ donation from non-related donors. The Commission consists of five members, including a psychologist and a lawyer. The Ethics Commission makes a decision by examining the donor's identity and voluntariness. Patients' appeal to the Ethics Commission should be made by the coordination center based on the case conference of the same center.
