Chairs of Azerbaijani, Lithuanian parliaments mull prospects for co-op development

Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova has met with a delegation led by Chair of the Seimas of Latvia Daiga Mierina, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, Report informs referring to the press and public relations department of the parliament.

The meeting participants emphasized the importance of mutual visits and regular meetings of the chairs of parliaments and working groups, and also noted the importance of deepening ties between the relevant committees and commissions of the parliaments of the two countries.

Daiga Mierina highly appreciated the role of Azerbaijan in establishing lasting peace in the region, as well as in carrying out large-scale restoration work by the country, noting that in the future Latvian companies could also take part in restoration and reconstruction work in Karabakh.

During the conversation, views were also exchanged on Azerbaijan’s holding of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), as well as on other issues of mutual interest.
