France is violating the Kanak people's right to self-determination, a member of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Tural Ganjaliyev, said at the conference on "New Caledonia: History, Contemporary Challenges, and Expected Future," Report informs
Ganjaliyev noted that, today's conference is of particular importance for exposing the colonial policy implemented by France in the 21st century once again: "France, which wags its finger at others about human rights, has kept the Kanak people under colonial rule since 1873. Every day we witness the decline of the Kanak people in New Caledonia, while the French, on the contrary, are increasing. This does not allow the Kanak people to raise their voices in referendums. Today the Kanak people are being forced into labor by France. France is also violating the Kanak people's right to self-determination."
