Azerbaijan to subject tourists to medical examinations and vaccinate

Tourists visiting Azerbaijan are offered to undergo medical examinations and be vaccinated, Report says, citing the draft law "On Tourism".

According to the document, the tourists traveling to or coming from a country (place) at risk of infectious diseases must undergo a medical examination, be vaccinated or other preventive measures provided for in international medical and sanitary regulations, or submit a relevant document.

Tour operators and travel agents have the following obligations to ensure the safety of tourists:

To take necessary measures to ensure the safety of tourists when forming a tourism package and to inform tourists about possible dangers while traveling;

To organize emergency service for tourists;

Immediately inform the body (institution) designated by the relevant executive authority, the state tourism body, and the diplomatic mission (consulate) of a tourist's country of residence (country of permanent residence in respect of a stateless person) operating in Azerbaijan about emergencies specified in Article 16.2 of the law.

The bill was adopted in the first reading.
