The National Assembly (Milli Majlis) of Azerbaijan has issued a statement condemning the biased resolution of the European Parliament.
Report presents the statement:
"The European Parliament's plenary session on December 19, 2024, was marked by the adoption of yet another resolution levelled against our country. As usual, the resolution contains references to fabricated information and false data, distorts realities and attempts to politicise the investigation of criminal acts that resulted in violations of the law.
All the fundamental rights and freedoms are fully guaranteed, and compliance with legal requirements is mandatory in Azerbaijan. Consequently, this European Parliament document, which interferes in our country's internal affairs, is set to prioritise other objectives.
Without a doubt, the resolution in question is part of a long-running campaign of slander and falsehoods directed against Azerbaijan. Especially in light of our country's achievements, her having overcome all artificially created obstacles and successfully united the global community in the struggle against climate change, it has been expected that this campaign would be further enriched with various 'elements' and expanded even more.
In this context, it was inevitable that the European Parliament, which is home to Azerbaijanophobic, Turkophobic and Islamophobic powers, would mov to make its own «contribution» to this campaign. Just how biased the adopted resolution is easy to understand if it is only pointed out that the representatives of the former separatist regime and terrorists accused of committing crimes against humanity on the territory of our country are presented in this document as 'Armenian prisoners of war.'
The immediate fulfilment of the orders of France, Armenia and the Armenian Lobby has demonstrably become a characteristic feature of the European Parliamentm. Consequently, such resolutions fully reveal the true nature of the hidden agendas and political interests directed against our country.
The debates held in the European Parliament and the documents adopted there have turned into an instrument of flagrant interference in the internal affairs of other countries. Meanwhile, this entity ought to realise clearly that its biased position and resolutions, which legitimise false information, no longer evoke any interest.
The Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan categorically rejects the biased and prejudiced resolution of the European Parliament. We believe that today’s Europe, whilst facing serious challenges, needs its legislators to focus much more on addressing the issues arising from those challenges."
