Azerbaijan drastically increases fines for littering with cigarette butts

The Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan approved a six-fold increase in fines for disposing of tobacco waste in the environment in the first reading.
According to Report, the bill on introducing relevant amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses was discussed at today's plenary session of the parliament.
According to the amendments, the fine for disposing of tobacco waste in the environment increases from 50 ($29.4) to 300 manats ($176.4).
Besides, in case of a repeated offense within a year, a fine of 700 manats ($411.6) or community service for a period of 60 to 100 hours is envisaged.
