Azerbaijan has abolished criminal liability for drugs in small quantities, Report informs.
This is reflected in the proposed amendments to the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses, discussed on April 26 in the third reading in the Azerbaijani Parliament.
According to the proposed amendments, the acquisition of a large amount of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, storage, manufacture, processing and transportation will be punished by restriction of freedom for 1-3 years or imprisonment for up to 3 years. The commission of the same acts on a large scale will be punished by imprisonment for 3-8 years, on an especially large scale - from 8 to 15 years.
Administrative liability is established for the illegal use, manufacture of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances in small quantities without the purpose of sale.
The draft amendments were put to the vote and adopted in the third reading.
