The current international relations system is inadequate in responding to the new global realities, said Ali Ahmadov, the First Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Report informs.
Speaking at the international roundtable discussion themed "The Role of Parliaments in Public Diplomacy: The Example of Azerbaijan and Türkiye", Ahmadov said as the friendship between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is growing stronger, both states gain the opportunity to play a more significant role in the international relations system.
"The international relations system, established after two World Wars to strengthen the world order, is currently unable to adequately respond to the new realities of the world," he emphasized.
The ongoing wars in Ukraine and Gaza, along with the killing of civilians, are clear examples of the collapse of the international relations system worldwide, Ahmadov pointed out. He stressed the need to enhance the role of parliaments in addressing these issues.
Ahmadov noted that Azerbaijan, by liberating its territories from occupation, has demonstrated an example of waging a just war against aggression. As a result, a real opportunity has emerged to strengthen peace and cooperation in the Caucasus.
"There is a need to increase efforts to strengthen the Türkiye-Azerbaijan brotherhood," he added.
