Ukrainian military expert explains latest situation on contact line

“At present, no paranormal activity of the enemy is observed on the contact line. Everything is in normal mode - they carry out planned activities to check the combat readiness of units. Sometimes they commit provocations by firing on our positions, but these are more imitation and demonstration,” Yuri Kochevenko, a military-political expert and head of the Center for Countering Russian Propaganda the areas of eastern Ukraine, controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, told Report.

He noted that the other side is moving its equipment demonstratively: “From time to time, they organize a radio game: they say on open frequencies that they plan to take steps, open fire, etc... In short, the enemy is trying to keep us in tension, but they are not preparing for an attack."

The expert stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which are carrying out their tasks in eastern Ukraine, are on high alert.

“They are provided with everything they need - personnel, equipment, weapons, fuel. The fighting spirit is at a high level; they are ready to perform any task. The atmosphere in the ranks of defenders is calm. Now it seems that the situation in the east is calmer than in Kyiv. We are aware of the danger. But it does not affect our emotional state. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to carry out combat missions, regardless of the situation,” Yuri Kochevenko said.
