"On my own behalf and on behalf of the Prosecutor-General's Office, I offer my condolences to the families and relatives of our servicemen, who died in the crash of a State Border Service (SBS) MI-17 helicopter during a training flight on November 30, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery," Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, who is on a visit to Kyiv, told journalists, Report informs.
He said that a criminal case has already been launched on this case: "On the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, the criminal case will be fully and thoroughly investigated, all the causes and circumstances of this incident will be investigated. The Azerbaijani public will be informed in detail and regularly."
The prosecutor-general regretted that some people are trying to abuse the incident for political purposes, spreading baseless rumors based on no proof.
"In this regard, I declare that the strictest measures provided for in the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan will be taken against such persons. It is unacceptable to use this tragedy for political ends," Prosecutor-General Kamran Aliyev added.
