Liberated areas in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast named

"After the start of the war against Ukraine by the aggressor Russia on February 24 of last year, there have been many changes on the front line," Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, told Report.

He noted that prior to the occupation of the cities of Lyman and Sviatohirsk, over 50% of the territory of the Donetsk region was under occupation: "Currently, 52% of the region's territory has been liberated thanks to regaining control over these two cities. The enemy is making a great effort to capture the city of Bakhmut, but it is unable to do so. The enemy is currently trying to capture this city and attack in the direction of the city of Soledar. The humanitarian situation is under full control. Citizens are provided with food and hygiene products. A curfew is in effect in the region. According to the order of the army command and the provincial administration, the sale of alcohol and light alcoholic beverages is prohibited in the province's territory. As for buying alcoholic beverages in other provinces and bringing them to the territory of the province, this is being systematically fought. As for the front line, the hottest spots are the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions and the Novopavlovskaya from the Vuhledar direction. The situation around Vuhledar is currently stable. The enemy's efforts are costing them hundreds of casualties every day. The Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief, head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the commander of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluznnyi understand that the main task is to achieve maximum results with minimum losses. In this respect, we are entirely different from the enemy. We do not intend to walk over the bodies of your dead and give away even an inch of our land."

Kyrylenko stressed that the attack on the Donetsk region has not slackened since the start of a large-scale attack on the territory of Ukraine:

"The question is how effective the attacks are. The enemy planned to occupy the Donetsk region, Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in May and June, and then they postponed it until autumn. Currently, thanks to the bravery of our military, we manage to provide protection on the Donetsk-Luhansk front and even launch a counterattack in some areas. We can expect every provocation and offensive operation from the enemy. In order to conduct our struggle more effectively and put an end to this war for freedom, we will continue to appeal to our Western partners - the United States, as well as Great Britain and EU countries, as we did before. This war can be completed only in one form - with the complete liberation of the territory of Ukraine."
