Azerbaijani MoD denies shelling Russian peacekeepers' positions

The Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan refutes Armenian statements about the shelling by the Azerbaijani military of positions of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RPC), temporarily stationed on the territory of Azerbaijan, the head of the ministry's press service, Colonel Anar Eyvazov, said at a briefing on anti-terrorist measures in Karabakh, Report informs.

According to Eyvazov, the information circulated in the Armenian segment of social networks about the alleged shelling by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces of the RPC positions and the civilian convoy they were accompanying is a lie and another piece of disinformation.

He emphasized that the Azerbaijani side is in constant contact with the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation and creates all the necessary conditions for them to fulfill their duties.

Eyvazov recalled that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are currently continuing local anti-terrorist measures in Karabakh: “The situation is under the control of our army. The public will be regularly provided with additional information.”
